"The Grinches Visit Grandma"
Our good friend and neighbor, Dick McCoy,
is a Viet Nam vet with a number of health problems,
the most serious being heart trouble.
He's undergone many painful and weakening surgeries.
His wife, who reminds us of Peggy Lee, is blind.
Dick just told us that he can no longer get help
paying for his medications,
and being disabled, he can't get them at all.
Here in Florida there are thousands of senior couples
living on minimum Social Security.
That is roughly $700 a month.
Try living on that for a while.
MediCare will not cover their needed medicine,
and MedicAid has been taking up the slack.
People depend on MedicAid
to live.
Our governor, Jeb Bush, and his legislature
have just proudly announced
that they are about to cut MedicAid.
Sorry folks, but the money went to the Big Sugar lobby,
and other cronies.
First things first.
