"Recording Artists Copyright Birds"
Jack Blanchard and Misty Morgan,
writers/recording artists
who had the Number One hit “Tennessee Birdwalk”,
have recently obtained copyrights
to the words “bird”, “birds”,
and any similar phrases,
when used in connection with musical compositions.
A Blanchard and Morgan spokesman said
in a statement yesterday,
“We may be seeking rights
to other Blanchard/Morgan key signature words and phrases,
such as ‘Tennessee’, ‘camel’, and ‘hump’.
Jack and Misty have also expressed a desire
to own the rights to the Major 7th chord,
which is widely recognized as the underlying theme
of the introductions to many of their songs.”
Lawsuits against infringements are pending.”
